The Code 04:26
Darling in the sunset, I hear you getting sick from all the lies they feed you, acting like they need you. Pretend like you like it. Pretend like you want the pain. He cries, "This can't be my son. If you will, please wait to call the code. I've been living in a fantasy. If you'd wait, I could pay anything." The paper in the mailbox is lying to your face. Crooked teeth and burn marks, light is becoming dark. Drink another bottle. Pour another down the drain. He cries, "This can't be the truth." All my friends are alcoholics. All my friends are drowning now. All my friends are falling fast asleep. Oh, my friends don't know me now.

The kids all laugh and play as we float overhead. We're in our spaceship now, and they're on earth instead. We'll spend our summer on Mars, even though we don't want to. We'll spend our summer on Mars. It seems it must be true. The old folks by the lake see something in the sky. My dear, it's just your smile, but unidentified. We were just on a walk beside the ocean side. Two kids with screwed up dreams go missing in the sky.

Who Are You? 03:16
I just need some comfort, some way to ease my troubled mind. I want you beside me. It will come in time. Who are you? I just want a moment to learn all the little things that set your clocks to ticking and tug your heart strings.

It was just surgery that kept me there and sleeping. I saw my brother's face. I could not wake from dreaming. Is this the real life, or is it just in my head? Is this what you see when you are dead? Wake up. The ghost is in your room. I can see everything I've ever done in anger. I can see Adam's rib, used by the Lord to make here. I see the sun. I see the moon. I see the people in the other room. The flowers talk to me, and I hear their voices in the middle of the night, but I need some one else to talk to.

about

I wrote and recorded this at my home in Corinth, MS. Tracks 1 and 5 use samples from a public domain recording of Mozart's "Mass in C Minor." All other samples are from public domain libraries or from around my home.
