1.
Daughter of the gods, are we insane? 'Cause everyone looks so different today. If you find the time, please swim my way, And rest assured that everything's okay. Let me know that nothing's changed. Chasing naked truth all through the trees, I'll conceal my body with their leaves. And if you come to visit, visit me. I'll tell you all I'd love for us to be, And let you know that nothing's changed. Daughter of the gods, what is your name? And where's the field in which you choose to play In uniforms of red and shoes of grey? Oh, everybody wants to play the game. Let them know that nothing's changed.
2.
To See You 03:18
You crawl across the floor, Packing bags and stacking boxes, Wondering what you have all these things for. But you can't say. It's just the way the dust will settle If left on its own even a day. I'd do anything to see you. I come home for the night, Searching for some vacancy Where I can let the next month leave my side. I know you do the same, Staring at the ceiling And rehearsing all the things you'd love to say. You'd do anything to see me.
3.
You kiss me on the shoulder, and you smile up at me. We sit here in the driveway, and I find it hard to leave. But there are things that take me other places than your grasp, And I'll do anything I can to get back. Love, I want to wake up with your face right next to mine, Upset that the sun already shines. Love, I want to take you anywhere that we can find. I want to be with you all the time. I want to be your only. I want to be your bliss. I want to the be the world that you are clenching in your fist. I want to whisper softly all the things I want to do The next time that I get the chance to see you. Love, I want to wake up with you sleeping by my side, Waiting for the minute that you rise. I'll study your tattoos, my hand tracing every line. I want to be with you all the time.

Afternoons 05:14
What exactly do I have to say? The white gold ring that I bought yesterday Joined the last few months and went away In one and eight. I drove to the city all alone To hear some voices other than my own. I'd love nothing more than just to roam Somewhere away, But I can't go, for there are things for me to do at home, Deafened by all the empty dial tones on sunny afternoons. I sat down and watched a TV show. Where exactly do I have to go? Then, I heard my love was coming home In one and eight. I cleaned up the living room at night Just to keep my body occupied While I waited for the plane to fly And come this way. I'll stay put until my demons can be understood. They visit me when they are feeling good on sunny afternoons. So, I say that it is time for them to go away. Only one of us is allowed to stay on sunny afternoons. I'll turn in and dream of days outside with wheels that spin On highways late at night, and I'll see you on sunny afternoons.

about

On February 7, 2009, I played my first ever show. I had done a few odds-and-ends cover sets and get-togethers before this date, but it was the first time I presented a mostly original set for an audience as part of a full bill. I wanted to release an EP on the ten-year anniversary of this date.

This EP was recorded in about three days. I used to work this quickly a lot, but I haven't in quite some time. This album was performed primarily with hardware. The drums were created or taken from various pieces of equipment that I own and sequenced with software, but everything else was played live or sequenced with various physical equipment.

"Daughter of the Gods" was written initially about three years ago, and the lyrics have changed little-by-little until they reached their current form in late 2017. The other three songs were written just before (and in some cases during) the process of recording.

I sincerely hope you enjoy this EP. God bless you, and I love all of you.
